- Enable gain and high frequency knobs. Enable bpm column in song list. Enable image preview in song list. Enable video external screen. Disable keylock (preserve tone). YouDJ is not only a website, it is a DJ software available on all platforms. Grab your copy and enjoy:) YouDJ Mobile App. YouDJ Desktop App.
- Song 2 is admittedly much more of a bassy deep house track and I am thinking this is what is throwing off Serato. If I adjust the gain using my mouse, will auto gain resume for all the later tracks automatically? Or will I be screwing it up? Anyone know a fix around this? Should I turn off auto gain? Is it something I'm screwed with in Serato DJ?
- I use an SR as well, but mostly with Traktor. I find the auto gain in Traktor not too reliable either, I end up using the gain knobs a lot with auto gain on. As far as Serato goes, whatever the certified hardware comes with is what you’ll be able to use, that’s it. There’s no way to alter mapping or routing or whatever.I have never ever used auto-gain and discourage the usage in any software.Never touch auto gain. And all my mixers/controllers have working gain control. Did with Traktor and now do with Mixvibes Cross. Couldn’t tell you about Serato though. I am not one of the lucky ones, yet 😀Greetinx.Get one of those cassette-tape look-a-like recording thingies and record from your rec out (or second master out) 🙂The gain knobs are only software on the SR. But it is very weird that the gain is only altered after the recording in Serato. It’s as if they put no thought in it at all.Gains in Serato are confusing. What I found difficult to get my head around is that there are software gain controls and hardware gain controls. The track gains are set in software either manually or through auto-gain and the meters reflect only the software track gain. The master gain control is also set in software, but the master level meter is the final output of the controller’s sound card.On top of that confusion, the hardware track gains don’t control anything in the software (nor do they affect the level meters), but just act like volume knobs. So on my controller (Denon MC2000), you can’t use the hardware gain knobs like on a traditional mixer, since there are no hardware meters telling me what those gain knobs are doing.Hey NDK,As I said in the other post on the subject, Platinum Notes could be an option. It does actual volume change inside the MP3, not in a tag, as I understand it. Although this is considered “destructive” behaviour (the word in this case just meaning that there is actual change to the audio signal), it’s my kind of destructive. Many gain tag edits don’t work all the time in all the (DJ) software and also depend on the implementation (what does the software do with the gain info in the tag). With PN-ed tracks, all the sound levels coming out are (just about) equal. So the DJ software has to do nothing and theoretically neither does the DJ.Greetinx.Ok,Unless I have things terribly wrong or they have changed their policy, MiK have a money-back guarantee. So no need to f*ck around with limited feature demo’s (like only one track at a time or no save option), but the full software. You like it, you keep it. You don’t like it, you tell them and get your money back, no questions asked.I think that is a pretty good way to do things.Greetinx.
